If ever there was a perfect starting hole, the first hole of Founders Club at Pawleys Island is it. Your first experience with the new Emerald Bermuda grass is as you roll a few putts on the 20,000 square foot putting green. Step to the front of the putting green and tee off. That’s right, you actually tee off from the putting green. A teeing ground can not get any better than that! You can choose your driver if you wish, but it is not required. Your hybrid may be the preferred play. Avoid the single bunker on the left and you should have no problem hitting the green on the second shot.
Here is one piece of advice that will help you throughout your round at The Founders Club... hit plenty of club for your approach shot. Normally, most of the trouble lies short of the green, better to be a little long than a little short. This is especially true on number one if the pin is in the front. If you go right at the pin you must be very accurate. Hit a little past the pin to be safe and you will still have a reasonable birdie putt. Hybrid, eight iron, one putt and you are off to the best round of your life!
